We were so fortunate to have such great weather for our second cottage weekend. The days were hot and the night sky was very colourful! The weekend was full of water play, soaking up the sun, trips out for ice cream, Smores, garden games, healthy home cooked meals and a few chores. We all had a great weekend and are looking forward to our last summer cottage weekend in August.

Our Day Program participants continue to amaze me! We started the day with a long walk at the Pan Am Centre - what a beautiful facility and legacy to our city. The Centre is hosting some of the sports for The North American Indigenous Games . We were able to watch a full court of badminton while we walked and then stopped in to watch some of the swimming events, in their gorgeous aquatics centre. We then did a life skills lesson about the amount of sugar in drinks they had consumed in the morning. After lunch, we did some light weights and balancing activities followed by yoga and guided meditation.
We spent a beautiful afternoon at Toronto Brickworks today. We enjoyed the outdoor market, hiked and saw the spectacular view of the city and went on a tour of the site and learned about its amazing history.
This evening, everyone decided that they wanted to watch a movie. After the movie, we prepared dinner, and while dinner was cooking, everyone went outside and played some board games. Everyone really enjoyed dinner and dessert !
We walked over to the local park area behind Jack Minor School and played a few games. We walked back and made a later lunch. We were all very hot and tired from all of the playing. We decided to stay in the backyard to eat and continue outdoor games instead of traveling to another park.
What a great adventure we had in Peterborough for our first cottage weekend. It was a jam packed weekend. We enjoyed swimming in the Lake and a campfire Friday night. On Saturday, the weather was a little overcast so we went for a hike at Warsaw Caves where we saw approx. 100 people manoeuvring their remote control cars through the trails. Saturday night, we enjoyed a concert in the Park with Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. On Sunday we had some free time before we headed home.
" I liked the concert - I enjoyed that new kind of music. The cottage was a nice place. There was a red sky at night - it looked so pretty. I enjoyed the food - especially the watermelon. The hike was different. I liked being in nature and seeing people. I really liked the little ice- cream shop. I would like to back again at the end of the month." written by Derek Another beautiful day!! We went swimming and played in the splash pad area. After the swim we enjoyed a picnic on the grass and had some ice cream from the ice cream truck.
On Saturday, we had a fun filled day that started with brunch at EggSmart. We then attended the City of Pickering's Canada Day Celebrations at Esplanade Park where we enjoyed live entertainment, activities and games. We ended the day with Yoga in the Park. Happy Birthday Canada!!
